Lopez Island
Lopez Island (S31)
Flying Northeast, Lopez airport shown above. The shallow light-blue waterway in the upper left is Fisherman Bay, with the village on its East shoreline. You'll hear aircraft reporting, "Fisherman Bay final, 16 Lopez".
The airport is located on the Southwest side of the island, adjacent to the golf course. You can taxi up to the golf course. The town and marina are about three miles away.
Lopez has two more landing opportunities. One, a small private strip just East of S31, and the other, on the extreme North end of the island is a very nice grass strip, called Windsock Farms, owned by Dwight Lewis. It's about 2,000 feet. And, it's reported that, during the fall month's you can, "cow pie" your airplane, there. Again, both of these strips are private, and require owners permission to use.
